The organizers of the SlovoNovo Forum of Free Culture at the ANU Museum had already planned in the preparatory phase of the project to use part of the proceeds from ticket sales for Ukraine. At the end of the forum it was decided to send all the collected money to Ukraine. Thank you to the personal contributions of NADAV founder Leonid Nevzlin and Slovo Novo founder Marat Guelman, we were able to increase the amount considerably
The money was transferred to the American non-profit West Support Foundation, which purchased and delivered 10,000 food packages for the residents of bombed-out Kharkiv.
We thank the guests who bought tickets for the Forum events and the participants who performed without fees.
SlovoNovo Free Culture Forum was held in Israel from May 16 to 20. The Forum, held in Montenegro in 2018, was held for the first time in a traveling format: SlovoNovo’s co-organizer and main venue was the ANU Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv, sponsored by the NADAV Foundation.
The forum was planned even before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The original program was completely changed to include events with Ukrainian artists and writers, as well as discussions on the possibilities of dialog between national cultures in the context of today’s events
Boris Grebenshchikov, Andrey Makarevich, Andrey Orlov (Orlusha), Dmitry Krymov, Mikhail Shishkin, Leonid Parfenov, Marina Maximilian, Psoy Korolenko, Vitaly Mansky, Mikhail Fishman, Mikhail Schatz, Veniamin Smekhov, Yury Volodarsky, Irina Shikhman, Ilia Akselrod, Semyon Faibisovich and many others participated in round tables, literary and poetic presentations, tours and concerts.
